14% percent Of Ugandans Use Mobile Internet – UCC Explains High Data Prices.

The Uganda Communications Commission yesterday justified the reason behind the sky rocketing prices of data in Uganda.

According to the Commission, only 14% of Ugandans buy data and use mobile internet. The small scores of internet users in Uganda therefore call for a little bit expensive data charges.

“We have to pay Kenya, to get internet from Mombasa” UCC boss Godfrey Mutabazi said. He added that Rwanda has cheap data charges because of the aid it gets from the government.

Mutabazi also urged Ugandans to buy more smart phones and use the internet so as to get the data charges lowered.
