The drama lasted more than eight hours as police, including negotiators, tried to coax them down.

At one point the pair even went down for a nap.

While one woman was escorted from the third level of the building, two men aged in their 20s allegedly refused to comply.

The ongoing drama disrupted the schedule of tradies who had turned up for work.

The pair came down to speak to officers and request alcohol but when their demands were not met they headed back inside.

When the pair eventually climbed down, they were arrested.

The Beechboro duo have been charged with trespass, disorderly behaviour in public and stealing.

Police Minister Paul Papalia labelled the incident “complete stupidity”.

“What a waste of time and actually potentially (it put) other people at harm in an effort to effectively rescue them,” he said.

“Just complete stupidity.”
