Covid-19 (Sept 17): 1,572 new cases, 3 new deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 1,572 new daily Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 4,817,251.

Active cases currently stood at 26,032, down 10.1 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Another three deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which two were declared as “brought in dead”.

Over the past week, an average of 4.4 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 6.1, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,308 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

The deaths were in Sabah (2) and Selangor (1).

There are 1,171 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised, of which 60 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (84) followed by Sabah (67) and Johor (35).
