‘FIFA 22’: How to make coins fast in FUT

We’re going to split this advice into sections for the time-poor and the time-rich, because not everyone plays the game the same way. Our main advice for people who have limited time on the game each week is to prioritize activities that generate coins reliably. The first of these is simply playing some matches!

You only need three wins in Division Rivals each week to earn some packs (distributed on Thursdays at 4 a.m. ET), or seven wins for the upgraded rewards, and if you stay in a division where you usually win comfortably, this shouldn’t take too long and may even be fun! Just make sure not to get promoted, because EA has removed relegation for FIFA 22, and it will take you longer to bag the wins if you’re actually being challenged!

Squad Battles is another good source of coins and packs. It takes perhaps three hours of gameplay to secure Gold 1 rewards (distributed Sunday at 4 a.m. ET) playing on Professional difficulty, which is also the bar you generally need to clear to finish any related Squad Battles objectives.

In terms of trading options, keep an eye on high-end fodder, by which we mean rare gold cards rated 86 and above. When these drop in price, buy a few for your transfer list. 86-rated cards for under 7k is a good look, or 87s for under 10k. These will rise as EA releases Squad Building Challenges that require high-rated squads. In years gone by, the end of November saw fodder prices rise precipitously, and while the market in FIFA 22 is behaving a little differently, we still think this is a no-brainer for anyone who is happy to invest and wait.

You should also jump into the game at 5 a.m. ET on either Thursday or Sunday, one hour after Div Rivals and Squad Battles rewards respectively. When people open their rewards, they list up valuable cards but often fail to set a lowest bid price, meaning that a card worth 10k may be open to bids starting at 700 coins. At any other time, this would be noticed by other players, driving the price up, but during times of heavy supply, there are so many auctions finishing at the same time that low bids often slip through.

Jumping onto the market an hour after people opened their rewards and placing low bids on a lot of cards at once will maximize your chance of being one of the lucky ones. We recommend targeting cards like the aforementioned fodder players, who will be packed a lot during reward periods, and can then be sold when the market recovers or held until an SBC arrives that makes them even more valuable.

If you have more time to spend trading, then there are plenty of time-intensive ways to earn big coins in FIFA 22. To begin with, though, we are going to reiterate that simply playing the game is a good way to earn coins. Smash out those Squad Battles, because there are some juicy packs in the higher tiers. Grind through Rivals to make sure you get Rank 1 rewards for whatever division you are in. And even if you don’t plan to enter FUT Champions, make sure you AFK all the Playoffs games so you can claim packs.

In terms of trading, one of our favorite things to do is Chemistry Style and Position Change trading. The idea is to look for popular cards that already have valuable Chemistry Styles or Position Changes applied to them, but which are being sold at the price of the default card, and to relist them at a price that takes the Chem Style or Pos Change into account. For example, you might see that Road to the Knockouts Issa Diop is changing hands for 32k. Use the Transfer Market search filters to see what the price is with a Shadow Chem Style applied – it’s probably 36k or thereabouts, because Shadow Chem Styles cost 4-5k.

The next step is to search repeatedly for the card at a lower price with Shadow applied. If you are using the in-game Transfer Market, adjust your “Max Buy Now” search price to just under 36k so that your search results show less than one page of cards. Scroll to the last one and hit “Compare Price”, then press circle/B to back out again. This has the effect of refreshing the search results. Look to see if any new Diops with Shadow have been listed. As soon as you see one that is 34k or under, buy it and relist at 36k. (Remember that you will lose 5% of the sale price in transaction tax, so make sure to calculate your margins.)

If you are using the Companion App or Web App, the Compare Price trick doesn’t work, but if you change the “Min Price” (top option) from “Any” to 150, then 200, 250, etc, for each subsequent search, then you will make sure the app is fetching fresh data and not just showing you the same cached results page each time.

Sniping cards this way can be time-consuming and laborious, but if you find the right card and filter, the coins can really begin to stack up. Throw on a podcast or stream to listen to while you work, and the time will fly by. The optimal Chemistry Styles to work with are the most expensive two, Hunter and Shadow, while for Position Changes it often pays to look at strikers (ST) who have been converted to CM or CDM, or CM/CDMs that have been converted to ST. The cards needed for those changes are costly, and the position changes are useful for squad building, which is why they often appear on the market.

As for which players to try this with, just think about which cards are most desirable. We often have good luck with new promo cards (hence Issa Diop, who is new at the time of writing), but any meta cards will do, especially on Mondays when people are selling off their Weekend League teams.
