Lauren Goodger was ‘screaming for help’ during home birth: ‘It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done’

Lauren Goodger was ‘screaming for help’ during her home water bath last month as she welcomed her baby daughter Larose to the world.

The Only Way Is Essex star, 34, became a parent for the first time with boyfriend Charles Drury, 23, in July, and she says giving birth in her front room was one of the ‘hardest things’ she’s ever done.

‘I had a natural home birth with no drugs and the midwife said she’d never seen someone give birth so textbook the way I did,’ she told OK! magazine.

‘I had a bit of gas and air, which we ran out of and they had to go to hospital to get some more, but I was in my zone and I did it.’

However, when she was asked about how painful the process was, she told the publication: ‘Oh my Lord! I was in my front room screaming, “Please, someone help me!”‘

Lauren announced she had given birth last month, with a representative telling OK! at the time: ‘Mother and baby are doing really well. Lauren and her partner Charlie are really looking forward to spending some quality time with their new arrival.’

The reality star had previously been open about wanting to have a home birth as she was considered low-risk and would find it more comfortable being in her own surroundings.

She planned to have a pool, candles, music and a doula on hand while partner Charles filmed the birth.

Speaking on the Hot Mess Mums Club podcast prior to the birth, Lauren said: ‘At home, you can have a birthing pool, have candles on, music, be relaxed through it – and I think the more relaxed I am, the more chance I will have an easy birth.’

She added to OK! magazine: ‘I’m going to be here with relaxing music on, the lights down and just fairy lights and candles around me.

‘It’s going to be very much a spiritual birth. And I’m planning to get some selfies during labour, so of course I’m getting a spray tan and my hair done ready for it.

‘I also want a masseuse there if I can! It sounds crazy, but it’s going to be amazing.’

Lauren and Charles have been dating since October 2020 and announced they were expecting their first child in January.
