The Kid LAROI, Amy Shark, You Am I & More to Perform at Michael Gudinski’s ‘Music From The Home Front 2021′

Music From The Home Front was the brainchild of Mushroom Group chairman Michael Gudinski, who envisioned an event that would unite artists and their audiences, a reminder that we’re not alone, even during the bleakest days of the pandemic.

Gudinski got the ball rolling, fast. With just nine days to make it happen, and with hundreds of moving parts, any number of which could’ve spelled disaster, MFTHF was a home run.

The broadcast on free-to-air Channel 9 was a ratings hit, nabbing 1.419 million viewers on Anzac Day 2020, and its companion three-disc album went to No. 1 on the ARIA chart.

Gudinski passed away suddenly on March 2, 2021 at the age of 68. The entrepreneur had been well into planning this year’s concert, say reps for Mushroom Group, the independent powerhouse he founded in the early ‘70s.

“Dad had many great passions throughout his career, but his love of the local music industry never shone brighter than it did during the last year as we suffered through the impact of COVID-19,” says Mushroom Group’s CEO Matt Gudinski.

He continues, “it’s incredibly fitting that Music From The Home Front, a project he was immensely proud of in 2020, was one of the events he was working on right up until his last day. That we can bring to life a broadcast concert version from his hometown of Melbourne, supporting the industry he loved, in a city he long promoted as the leading music capital of Australia, resonates deeply with all of us at Mushroom.”

This year’s event is presented in partnership with the Victorian Government. The live stream will be hosted on YouTube from 5.30am ET on Saturday, 24 April, and aired in Australia on Channel 9 and its digital channel 9Now.

Tickets for the Melbourne concert go on sale this Friday (April 16). For more visit musicfromthehomefront.com.au and frontiertouring.com/homefront.
