2024 NFL Coach of the Year odds: Kevin O’Connell favored after Vikings’ hot start
Just like player awards, NFL Coach of the Year is a race where the odds will fluctuate throughout the season.
For instance, on July 8, the preseason favorite to win the award was Bears coach Matt Eberflus, at +900. Now that Chicago is 2-2, his odds have moved down to +4500.
Instead, Kevin O’Connell is the favorite to win the award. Not only is he the favorite for the second consecutive week, his odds have only gotten shorter.
Let’s check out the latest odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Oct 2.
2024-25 NFL Coach of the Year odds:
Kevin O’Connell, Vikings: +190 (bet $10 to win $29 total)
Dan Quinn, Commanders: +450 (bet $10 to win $55 total)
Mike MacDonald, Seahawks +550 (bet $10 to win $65 total)
Jim Harbaugh, Chargers: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)
Mike Tomlin, Steelers: +1600 (bet $10 to win $170 total)
Sean Payton, Broncos: +1800 (bet $10 to win $190 total)
Raheem Morris, Falcons: +1800 (bet $10 to win $190 total)
Demeco Ryans, Texans: +1800 (bet $10 to win $190 total)
Dan Campbell, Lions: +1800 (bet $10 to win $190 total)
Dennis Allen, Saints: +2000 (bet $10 to win $210 total)
Kevin O’Connell’s odds to win Coach of the Year have moved to +190 from +350 over the last week.
In addition to his COY futures shortening, the team’s Super Bowl futures and quarterback Sam Darnold’s MVP odds are also getting shorter.
According to FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd, the Vikings’ success is not a “fluke” and much of it can be attributed to O’Connell.
“I buy into this team. Everything works,” “The Herd” host said after Minnesota’s 31-29, Week 4 win over Green Bay. “They’re beating people badly. [Sam] Darnold leads the NFL in touchdown passes, passer rating — and the defense leads the NFL in sacks.
“It’s good, and it’s exceptionally coached.”
Rounding out the top three are Washington’s Dan Quinn at +450 and Seattle’s Mike MacDonald at +550.
Both the Commanders and the Seahawks have gotten off to 3-1 starts.
