UPDF Soldier Perishes In Nasty Accident In Mabira Forest

Major Nsamba Habib Katakabire, 54, of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces died in a road accident in Mabira forest, Sanga area on the Kampala-Jinja highway.

The officer was travelling in a toyota Land Cruiser no. UBQ 424N, heading from Kampala to Jinja when it collided with a trailer no. UBP 644S that was traveling from Jinja to Kampala.

The soldier allegedly passed several vehicles and found a truck which was driven by Kasozi Muhammad. It was after the long overlap that the soldier got into another Toyota Corona UBP 411L which was driven by police officer Kayondo Isaac of Bweyogerere police station.

Ssezibwa police spokesperson Hellen Butoto urged the public to abide by the traffic rules, and avoid reckless driving.
