AUSTIN PETERSEN: DNC gives a masterclass in losing as they elect new chair
The Democratic Party is not an organization dedicated to winning political power.
For once,The View wasn’t the most chaotic Democratic gathering. The Democratic National Committee met in Chicago to elect new leadership last weekend, and instead of taking stock of why they just got politically steamrolled by Donald Trump, they decided to hold a group therapy session where activists screamed, identity politics took center stage, and self-awareness was permanently banned.
For 30 straight minutes, climate activists from the Sunrise Movement hijacked the proceedings, yelling about global warming to a room full of Democrats who already agree with them. It was less of a protest and more of a hostage situation where the hostages also supported a carbon tax. MSNBC moderator Symone Sanders-Townsend, trying desperately to maintain control, threw up her hands and said, “If anyone else feels the need to disrupt, please stand up and do it right now.” This, of course, was received like an Oprah giveaway.
If there’s one thing the modern Democratic Party loves, it’s elevating online activists with zero accomplishments. David Hogg, a professional gun control grifter and pillow entrepreneur (for about five minutes) just failed-up as Vice Chair of the DNC. You might remember Hogg as the guy who wasn’t even at school during the Parkland shooting but managed to leverage tragedy into a full-time job as an insufferable Twitter scold. He launched Good Pillow, a progressive response to Mike Lindell’s MyPillow, and it flopped harder than Kamala Harris in Iowa in 2020. So naturally, the DNC decided this is the guy to help lead them out of the political wilderness. Here’s Hogg in action, showing exactly why Democratic leadership is in such strong hands.
Now the Democrats decide it’s the Identity Politics Hunger Games! With inflation skyrocketing and voters citing the economy, crime, and immigration as their top concerns, the DNC decided its real priority should be enforcing gender quotas for its leadership positions. One official proudly declared that the party must elect one male, one female, and one person of “any gender.” Because nothing says we understand working-class struggles like turning leadership selection into a Woke Olympics. And it’s precisely those Olympics that led Kamala Harris into one of her biggest strategic blunders: endorsing sex change operations for prisoners.
It’s almost like they want to lose. Meanwhile, Trump is busy dismantling DEI across the government, watching Elon Musk destroy USAID corruption, taking aim at the Department of Education, and laughing into his Diet Coke—with plastic straws, mind you—while the media scrambles to keep up.
Of course, no modern Democratic gathering is complete without a land acknowledgment, that ritualistic moment where leftist politicians briefly admit they’re colonizers before moving on to raise money in corporate boardrooms. How ironic to do a land acknowledgement for a land you just lost! The DNC dutifully performed this empty, performative exercise, ensuring that if they ever win again, it will be on land that totally still belongs to Native Americans (but which they will not be giving back).
As the event neared its end, MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart administered what can only be described as the final ideological purity test:
“How many of you think that racism and misogyny played a role in Kamala Harris’ defeat?”
Without hesitation, every single person on stage shot their hand up like a group of North Korean generals saluting Kim Jong Un. Capehart grinned and said, “That’s good… you all passed.”
And that is why they lost. Not because of actual voter concerns. Not because Harris was historically unpopular and struggled to string together a coherent sentence. But because they’ve built a party where disagreeing with the approved narrative is a career-ending offense, and no one outside of that auditorium is afraid of being called racist anymore.
If there’s one takeaway from this week’s DNC gathering, it’s that the Democratic Party is not an organization dedicated to winning political power. It’s a club for progressive activists to engage in ideological cosplay, assuring each other they’re on the right side of history while losing to Donald Trump.
It’s exactly as this person posted on X: “The last decade has been the Democrats clinging onto the rulebook going “but a dog can’t play basketball!” while a dog f***ing dunks on us over and over.” The rules have changed, but the Democrats are congratulating themselves for being morally superior, while the dog shatters the backboard and takes their lunch money.
