Avoid Handshakes and Body Contact. – Minister Aceng, Also Warns Against Falsehoods

The health minister has urged Ugandans to avoid body contact or shaking hands amidst the Ebola break out in Kasese, Uganda.

On her official twitter handle; Hon. Jane Ruth Aceng wrote as below;

I want the entire nation to observe a NO HANDSHAKING/body contact phase until we are Ebola free. I also want to appeal to you all to ALWAYS wash your hands with soap, jik and water.
I appreciate all our partners for their tireless efforts to contain this outbreak.

She also urged the public to desist from spreading false information about the disease saying this can cause unnecessary panic among the population & greatly affect the ministry’s response.

Aceng says there are responsible people for giving credible information about such a serious issue in the ministry of health and that they are doing their Job very well.

” Ebola is not something to joke with, it kills.” She says

This comes after several messages going around social media declaring Ebola in districts like Mbarara, Wakiso, Pakwach among others, a thing the Minister dubbed ‘irresponsible reporting’.

Like the culture of Ugandans to make fun out of the most serious thing, they could not spare this one as well.

Someone on social media posted a way the greeting should be carried out.
