September 21, (THEWILL) – Fulham dealt Newcastle United their first English Premier League defeat of the season, winning 3-1 at Craven Cottage on Saturday. The victory marked Fulham’s second of the campaign and moved them up to eighth place in the table.

Raul Jimenez opened the scoring for Fulham after just five minutes, chesting down a cross from Adama Traore before firing a low shot into the net. Smith Rowe nearly doubled the lead moments later, striking the crossbar, but he made amends in the 22nd minute by scoring from close range to put Fulham 2-0 up.

Newcastle responded quickly after half-time, with Harvey Barnes scoring within 28 seconds of the restart to reduce the deficit. The visitors had a golden opportunity to equalise shortly after when Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno gave the ball away to Fabian Schar from a goal-kick, but the defender failed to capitalise on the error.
