Furiosa Races To Streaming and The Physical Place Next Week
It’s been a few months since Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga came into the world as a pretty rad Fury Road prequel that not a lot of folks saw. If you missed it or waited to catch it in the comfort of your own home, good news: you can do eiher (or both) in just a few days.
Come Tuesday, August 13, you’ll be able to buy Furiosa in the usual variants of standard, Blu-Ray, and 4K UHD at various retailers for different prices. Then a few days later on August 16, it’ll be streaming on Max alongside its 2015 predecessor and the earlier entries in the series. The Blu-Ray and UHD editions come with special features that dive into the making of the film and lead actors Anya Taylor-Joy (Furiosa) and Dementus (Chris Hemsworth). But if you were hoping for something extra, like a way to watch it black-and-white like you did with Fury Road, no such luck.
Furiosa came out in May and despite some pretty good reviews, didn’t really light the world on fire financially. (Not the only May movie to do so!) It grossed $172.8 million overall, which means it both made a little over half as much as Fury Road’s $380.4 million, and is also the franchise’s second highest-grossing movie…after Fury Road. Weird how that works out. Any potential follow-ups, like another movie focused on Max Rockatansky himself (played again by Tom Hardy), appear to be dead in the sands, but maybe George Miller’s got something cooked up once Warner Bros. can get its own ducks in order.
Even if we don’t get another Max movie, or at least one from Miller’s “demented” mind, Furiosa’s pretty good and will hopefully find an audience now that it’s hitting retailers and streaming over the next few days.
