Health Minister Urges Public Vigilance Amid Ebola Sudan Outbreak
KAMPALA – Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has dismissed allegations that her ministry is exploiting the Ebola Sudan outbreak to solicit donor funds. She firmly stated that the outbreak is real and urged the public to take necessary precautions to prevent further spread of the deadly virus.
Dr. Aceng cautioned citizens against participating in the burials of individuals who have succumbed to Ebola Sudan, emphasizing the dangers posed by improper handling of infected bodies. She further warned against exhuming bodies for traditional rituals, as this could accelerate transmission of the virus.
While the minister refrained from disclosing the exact number of confirmed cases, reports indicate that at least seven infections have been recorded so far. The Health Ministry continues to monitor the situation and implement measures to contain the outbreak.
Authorities urge the public to follow health guidelines, including regular handwashing, avoiding physical contact with infected individuals, and promptly reporting suspected cases. More updates will be provided as the situation develops.
