IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Alert For Odisha; SRC Asks Collectors To Monitor Situation
Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha will experience thunderstorm and lightning activities till June 11, predicted India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.
Ahead of the monsoon onset, several parts of Odisha will experience rain and thunderstorm activities in the next couple of days. IMD has also issued heavy rainfall alert for several parts of the State.
A yellow warning has been issued for 15 districts as thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur in the next 24 hours. As the IMD has also issued heavy rainfall warning for several districts between June 8 and 11, office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) today issued an advisory to the Collectors directing them to closely monitor the situation.
The Collectors have been asked to circulate IMD’s message and take appropriate action in case of any eventuality.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 7.6.2O21 up to 0830 hrs IST of 8.6.2021)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur.
Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 8.6.2021up to 0830 hrs IST of 9.6.2021)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower most likely to occur at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha.
Yellow Warning (To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore.
Heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpu and Kalahandi.
Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 9.6.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2021)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower most likely to occur at many places over the districts Odisha.
Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.
Day 5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2021up to 0830 hrs IST of 11.06.2021)
Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapara Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkana!, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Kalahandi.
