Justice Flavian Zeija Vetted for Deputy Chief Justice Role
Justice Flavian Zeija has appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, chaired by Speaker Anita Among, for vetting as Deputy Chief Justice. If approved, he will replace the retiring Justice Richard Buteera, taking on a crucial role in overseeing appellate matters and judicial administration.
He was among several judicial nominees vetted today, including Justice Muzamilu Kibedi, who has been appointed to the Supreme Court. Speaking after his session, Justice Kibedi reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring fairness in justice delivery.

The vetting process remains ongoing, with eight justices of the Court of Appeal and 21 acting High Court judges expected to appear before the committee. The nominees are being scrutinized for their experience, integrity, and judicial independence, with the committee’s recommendations set to be forwarded to President Museveni for final confirmation.
