Now Android Phones Can Detect if an Apple AirTag is Tracking You

Android phones now have a new feature that can detect Apple AirTags, which are tracking devices. Apple and Google worked together to address concerns about stalking and unwanted tracking.

With Google’s vast network of over 3 billion devices that use Bluetooth connectivity, Android users will now receive alerts if they detect an AirTag that doesn’t belong to them and is traveling with them. These alerts will be called “unknown tracker alerts.”

When an Android user receives such an alert, they can tap on it to get more information about the owner of the AirTag. Google ensures that this data will be encrypted and not shared with them, meaning the user’s privacy is protected.

To get this new feature, Android users will need to update their Google Play services, and it will be available for Android 6.0 and above.

This collaboration between Apple and Google is aimed at improving safety and privacy for users by helping them detect if someone is trying to track them without their consent using an AirTag.
