ProHealth Celebrates 20 Years

SPONSORED FEATURE

ProHealth Physical Therapy and Pilates Studio is commemorating two decades as an integral part of the community, and you are invited to take part.

The ProHealth 20th Anniversary open house and celebration is scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the studio at 1777 Georgian Park in Peachtree City. The activities planned for the event include demonstrations, Irish dancers and prize drawings. Attendees have the opportunity to post their own ProHealth stories and share them with the public. Everyone is also invited to bring non-perishable food items for the Real Life Center donation drive.

A lot can happen in 20 years. ProHealth has seen about 14,000 patients in that time. The founder and owner, Dr. Karyn Staples, has become firmly entrenched in the community both inside and outside the studio.

Staples became a physical therapist in 1998 while living in Indiana, and she began using Pilates as her workout routine while working in a local hospital system. She soon saw the benefits of integrating Pilates into her work and made it part of her doctoral degree work.

After she and her husband made the decision to move to Georgia in the fall of 2004, she started what was the first fully-equipped Pilates studio in Fayette County. It is still the only physical therapy clinic in the area that utilizes Pilates.

There is much to be pleased about when reflecting on the past 20 years, according to Staples.

“Being able to have a space that you design from the ground up, seeing the growth in coworkers as well as clinical students who come into the profession,” she noted. “I like mentoring others, and to be able to see them get to where they want to be and have confidence – I’m very grateful that I can see them thrive and find their niche, their area of focus.”

Like most small business owners, she started out doing everything in her original Georgian Park space. Eventually she made two moves to larger spaces that led to her current location, where she has been since late 2017.

Now a dozen different Pilates classes are offered each week along with one-on-one and small group sessions. Four other physical therapists work alongside Staples as well as PT assistant, two Pilates teachers and three members of the office staff.

“Over the years, I’ve seen people come and go,” said Staples. “There’s people that have come in for a short period of time, people that have been for longer periods of time. Life takes people on different journeys. I’m super grateful for the expertise that people have brought in.

“I just love this place so much. I feel so much better even when I pull into the parking lot. And that’s a huge thing for me because I don’t want people to have to come. I want people to want to come and that they enjoy coming to work, that the environment is one that is fulfilling for them as well.”

That sense of community extends beyond the walls of the studio. Staples’ children were born while she has been running her business, and they have grown up and gone to school here.

She has participated in various local initiatives such as the food drive and lectured to a number of groups in the area for businesswomen and others.

Wife, mother, business owner. The last 20 years have been a blessing, and hopes are high for the next 20.

Anyone interested in attending the open house is encouraged to RSVP at the front desk or by calling 770-487-1931.
