Uganda’s Ministry of Finance Confirms Arrest of Accountant General’s Office Staff Amid Treasury Investigations

The Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development has confirmed the arrest of some officers attached to the Accountant General’s Office (AGO) as part of ongoing investigations into certain operations at the Treasury.

According to an official statement signed by Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Treasury, Ramathan Ggoobi, the affected officers were summoned and detained by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to aid the probe.

The Ministry assured the public, government agencies, local governments, and development partners that all necessary support has been extended to the investigating authorities. Furthermore, it emphasized that all services provided by the AGO remain fully operational.

“We wish to assure everyone concerned that all our services, including those provided by the AGO, are operating normally,” the statement read.

The Ministry pledged to provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
