Its ascent to No. 1 snaps the 34-week reign of 24kGoldn’s “Mood,” featuring Iann Dior, that had persisted for the entirety of 2021 and dated to its first week at the summit in late August. (Briefly interrupting its command, Billie Eilish’s “Therefore I Am” led for a week in November and Taylor Swift’s “Willow” ruled for a week in December.)
Concurrently, “Heat Waves” reaches a new No. 34 high on the all-format Streaming Songs survey. It also continues its rise at pop radio formats after topping Alternative Airplay for three weeks in March and April. It climbs 21-20 on Pop Airplay and 24-22 on Adult Pop Airplay, marking the group’s first entry on each tally.
“Heat Waves” is the latest single from Dreamland, Glass Animals’ third studio album. It became the band’s first Billboard 200 top 10, debuting and peaking at No. 7 in August, and has earned 381,000 equivalent album units to date.
