One facet of the extreme left that must be noted, if not almost admired, is their patience. This movement has been in play, not for months or years but decades. The infiltration into the colleges and universities was selected because the attendees are the most malleable and thus most easily manipulated. If the way of life we have so fervently protected over the last 100 years is to continue, it is imperative that we stand up again and avow the sanctity of a civil community. These ‘useful idiots’ are actually a small percentage of the overall population, but such a guilt trip has been laid on the rest of us that we have acquiesced and now let the tail wag the dog.  All that is required to quell these outrageous demonstrations is to expel those who are actually students and arrest the other interlopers. Forfeiting several thousand dollars in their parents’ hard-earned savings will get their attention. It’s time to take a stand, people. Wake up!

(We should acquiesce no more. Our weak political leadership constantly gives in to the demands of the small, but loudest group — usually to the detriment of the rest of us. Enough is enough)

IT WAS TOO EASY

Ben Shapiro wisely notes: “There’s no ‘international law.’” (May 23). But when he castigates the ICC for seeking arrest warrants for Prime Minister Netanyahu and his defence minister, Yoav Gallant, he leaves the most important question unanswered: How could such a terrorist attack (as occurred Oct. 7) have been so easily and so brazenly pulled off given that even a mouse couldn’t have penetrated Israeli territory? This is a question that haunts Israeli, Palestinian and global citizens alike. It’s not arrest warrants that are needed (as Shapiro notes), but facts!

(That is something that will haunt Israel for years to come)

WHAT’S GOING ON HERE

When I put a Conservative sign on my lawn for the last election, I was verbally harassed by a neighbour and labeled “scary.” Today, my friends who support Israel won’t go public with it because they fear for their safety. How did we come to this?

J. Conway                                                                                                                                                         Toronto

(We are in a troubling period of time)
