Firefighters attend farm fire this afternoon
FIREFIGHTERS have attended more fields of crops on fire today.
This afternoon, around 4pm, crews from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, including Didcot Fire Station and Goring Fire Station, were called to a farm just north of Newbury to assist.
Crews were faced with approximately 10 acres of standing crops on fire.
The crews worked alongside firefighters from Newbury, Hungerford, and
Reading to bring the blaze under control in less than two hours.
The fire service have urged people to be responsible while enjoying the countryside in the summer.
Yesterday, firefighters spent eight hours battling a fire on hay bales in Drayton, near Banbury.
Investigations are currently underway as the fire may have been caused by a ‘possible arsonist’.
