2021/2022 EPL: Iheanacho targets more goals for Foxes

Kelechi Iheanacho is hoping to surpass his goal scoring form of last season when the 2021/2022 premier league season resumes next month.

The Nigeria international scored 19 goals in all competitions for Leicester City in the concluded campaign and is expected to continue his good form when the Foxes host Wolverhampton Wolves at the King Power Stadium on Aug 14.

“I pray for more goals, but most importantly, more wins and more points,” Iheanacho said on Leicester’s official website yesterday.

“Obviously, I scored goals last season,” he added. “I think, this season, we really need to do more and focus on our games. I have a good feeling that, this season, it might fall for us and we’ll get what we want.

The former Manchester City star also spoke about the positive atmosphere as Brendan Rodgers’ men begin their preparations for the start of the season, adding that the team is focused on getting through the pre-season and then the start of season.

“It feels good, it is sunny! I am happy to be back. Pre-season is on, so you know what it means: running, running, running!” Iheanacho continued.

“Of course, it is good to be back. Now, we need to concentrate on the work that we have ahead. We just need to focus and get through the pre-season and focus on the new season.

“It is good to be back with this special group of lads. We are like a family. We are all friends, so it is always good to be back with everybody. We are hoping we will be back fit and strong so we can work together again.”
