Esther and Ezekiel Mutesasira were announced winners of the very first Season of East Africa’s Got Talent at the televised show finale at Catholic University auditorium in Nairobi, Kenya
The announcement that was made on Sunday 6th Ocober 2019 mad ethe duo winners of the US$50,000 (sh184m) grand prize. The duo has always been getting better in every performance and is remembered to have been saved by the judges at the semi-finals beating Leyna Kagere a friend to the duo and also a Ugandan too! One of the most unforgettable memories from the competitions was the moment Judge Vanessa Mdee told the duo that some thing big was ahead of them and it was starting at the Got Talent Stage
The duo beat DNA and Jehovah Shallom Acappella both from Uganda, Jannell Tamara and Spellcast both from Kenya and Rwanda’s Intanayoberana. When asked what he plans to use the money for upon winning East Africa’s Got Talent, this is what Ezekiel said: “I will first give tithe to God, build a home for the disabled and orphaned children and use the remaining money to process the required travel documents to Canada. I want to visit my mother.” “I sing Gospel and inspirational music. I want to be a professional musician, whose music impacts lives,” he says. Finale was the climax of the six-month journey that saw numerous contestants from across the region.
